2020 Has been a bit of an adventure so far. Just as we were about to celebrate our presence in a new brick-and-mortar store, Kindred Collections, the State of Pennsylvania issued the order to close all non-life-sustaining businesses in the state due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

As we were about to gear up for the Lancaster County “Best Kept Secrets Tour” we decided that we would pivot and use our skills, scraps, and all the random fabric we have accumulated over the years and start making masks. The demand for masks has been huge, especially as the CDC has recommended that people start wearing masks in public.

As we embarked on the mask making adventure, we partnered with Costumes by Denny (my mother’s costume business) in order to increase our throughput and help the community as much as possible. Plus, we just like working together. Well, we actually each work out of our own home shops due to social distancing.

Our mask making venture is essentially three-fold:

  1. Make masks to donate to medical professionals in need.
  2. Make masks for sale to anyone who needs or wants. For every mask sold, we aim to donate one as well.
  3. Use proceeds from sales to continue the donation effort.

So, the Cloth Mask Project by Plaid Peach and Costumes by Denny was born. We have gathered as much research as possible from credible sources such as the CDC, local health department guidelines, individual hospital guidelines, and even some of our medical professional friends. We are using high quality materials, and making a product that should last.

Check out our Cloth Masks page for ordering and waitlist information. You can also follow us on Facebook for more  frequent status updates, though we will continue to post here as we go as well.
